Vehicle Technician B will repair and maintain all types of customer vehicles and equipment, including material handling, trailers, and diesel-powered equipment; perform job duties independently with limited supervision; provide mentoring and assistance to Vehicle Technician C’s as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform some electrical, mechanical diagnostic, and repair of customer vehicles and equipment, including material handling, trailers, and diesel-powered equipment
  • Perform various forms of equipment repair including drive chain components, automatic brake systems, etc. through an intermediate level of experience and system knowledge
  • Maintain accurate parts inventory, research, resolve all discovered inventory discrepancies and notify maintenance management when a resolution is not available
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and warehouse, perform other tasks as determined and requested by management
  • Work in the Maintenance software system to record data, ensure DOT compliance, and ensure follow up of return orders
  • Serve as a mentor for Vehicle Technicians C, as needed; may perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Basic welding and cutting torch operation skills
  • Basic electrical, mechanical diagnostics, and repair skills
  • Understanding of tire inflation systems
  • Knowledge and ability to mount and dismount tires
  • Basic diagnostic tool skills
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize daily tasks
  • Must adhere to company uniform and appearance standards
  • Professional and appropriate interaction with internal and external customers
  • Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions tools, equipment, machinery and, or materials used to power, hand, diagnostic tools operate material handling equipment
  • Must be capable of driving company equipment including class 8 tractors working conditions
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be able to vary the start and finish times, possibly including weekends and holidays 
  • Basic computer skills
  • Each technician needs to provide their own tools 
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge acquired through 3-5 years of work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of education beyond high school in college or technical school
  • Class A CDL or Ability To Obtain within ninety (90) days of employment 
  • A.S.E. Certification
  • Refrigerant Recovery and Recycle Certifications
  • D.O.T. Brake, Annual Inspection Certification
  • Diesel, Automotive Trade School Diploma
  • 3-5 years Previous Experience in Heavy Duty Truck Maintenance
